Oboe
Susan Mausolf is currently a performing oboist and teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as Bachelor's and Master's degrees in oboe performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In addition to her studies with William McMullen at UNL, she has studied at some of the most prestigious music festivals in the United States: as a student, she was admitted to the select Repertory Training Program while studying at the Brevard Music Center. She studied for several years at the Aspen Music Festival where she was a student of such world-renowned oboists as John deLancie, David Weber, and Catherine Greenbank. She has also studied with Sara Lambert Bloom at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
Ms. Mausolf is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Sigma Alpha Iota and the Golden Key National Honor Society. She was awarded a Certificate of Honor in recognition of outstanding achievement in the field of music by Pi Kappa Lambda, and she is a past winner of the prestigious Vreeland Award in Music for her performances of, and dedication to the advancement of 20th century music. She was chosen to perform the world premiere of the Concerto for Oboe composed by Randall Snyder in 1994. She has performed recitals of contemporary works for the oboe in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was also honored, as a veteran, to be asked to play at the dedication of the memorial for Women in the Military Service in Washington, D.C. in 1997.
Ms. Mausolf has been the oboe instructor in the nationally recognized Winds on the Mon music educational program for underpriviledged children in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has toured with the American Wind Symphony Orchestra on its world famous Floating Center for the Arts, Point- Counterpoint II. Mrs. Mausolf has served as principal oboist in Italy with the Rome Festival Orchestra summer season from 2000-2002. She has a large private teaching studio and performs extensively in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the United States. She specializes in music for the oboe/English horn with organ repertoire.
