Facilities

The Keyboard Program at Nebraska Wesleyan boasts some of the finest facilities in the Midwest. The Vance D Rogers Center for Fine Arts houses 39 pianos in faculty studios, classrooms, rehearsal rooms, practice rooms, and two concert halls. The 1500-seat O'Donnell Auditorium features two concert grands -- a nine-foot Steinway grand and a nine-foot, six-inch Bösendorfer Imperial grand. The Bösendorfer Imperial was entirely handmade in Vienna, Austria and is the only one of its size in Nebraska. Also housed in O'Donnell Auditorium is the 49-rank Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ. Fifteen of the practice rooms feature newer Yamaha and Kawai pianos.

Locked practice rooms with Steinway and newer Kawai grands are reserved for keyboard majors.Other keyboard instruments in the Rogers Center include a harpsichord, a Yamaha Disklavier, a Roland electronic piano laboratory with eleven digital pianos, keyboard synthesizers, and electronic keyboard samplers.

Bravo, Bösendorfer!

Since the purchase of a nine-foot, six-inch Bösendorfer Imperial grand in 1987 to commemorate the centennial of Nebraska Wesleyan University, an annual concert series, Bravo, Bösendorfer!, has brought nationally and internationally-known concert pianists to NWU. These guest artists have performed a wide variety of keyboard repertoire on recitals, and have also served as guest lecturers, workshop clinicians, and conducted master classes for Nebraska Wesleyan University and high school pianists. Some of the distinguished concert pianists who have performed on the Bravo, Bösendorfer! Concert Series are listed below:

  • Paul Badura-Skoda, Austria
  • Castalia Trio, Pennsylvania
  • Cecilia Dunoyer, France
  • Marta Felcman, New York City
  • Nohema Fernandez, Arizona
  • Barry Hannigan, Pennsylvania
  • Ralph and Doris Harrel, Texas
  • Nina Lelchuk, Russia
  • Rebecca Rollins, California
  • Rosilee Walker, Arkansas
  • Guy Wuellner, Iowa
  • Yin Cheng-Zong, China
