A
native Nebraskan, Larry Jones received a Bachelor of
Music degree in piano performance from Nebraska Wesleyan
University, a Master of Music degree from Yale University
and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University
of Colorado. He has studied with Hazel Folsom, Dorothy
Bronson, Beth Miller Harrod, Donald Currier, Keith Wallingford,
Paul Parmelee, and performed in master classes for Grant
Johannesen, Claude Frank and Gary Graffman. While a
student, Jones twice won the Nebraska Music Teachers
C ollegiate Piano Auditions and the Highest Achievement
Award at Rocky Ridge Music Center.
Dr Jones has been guest soloist with both the Lincoln
and Omaha Symphonies, Rocky Ridge Music Center Orchestra,
Nebraska Wesleyan Orchestra, Nebraska Chamber Orchestra,
and the Nebraska Wesleyan Symphonic Band. Dr Jones has
performed numerous recitals in New England and the Midwest
as a solo pianist, accompanist and chamber musician.
In October 1997, Dr Jones was guest soloist with the
Lincoln Civic Orchestra, performing Rhapsody in Blue
by George Gershwin.
Dr Jones teaches piano and piano pedagogy classes at
Nebraska Wesleyan University where he is Professor of
Music. He coordinates the music faculty concerts and
the piano accompanying department. Dr Jones currently
serves as Director of Keyboard Studies.
Dr. Jones is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music
in the Music Teachers National Association, a member
of the Nebraska Music Teachers Association, and a member
of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. |
