Elegibility
Students will be chosen based on teacher recommendation of student
musicianship abilities. To be eligible for choir camp, the student must
be 10-14 years of age and have an unchanged singing voice. Enrollment
will be limited to 60 singers.
Cost
Tuition: $165 (includes music, t-shirt, salaries, entertainment,
and office charges)
Housing & Food: $210 (Sunday evening through Friday lunch, 3 meals
daily)
Total Fee for Resident Campers: $375
Transportation
to and from Nebraska Wesleyan University is not included. Local students
may choose to attend as day campers.
Total Fee for Day Campers (excluding breakfast and overnight
housing: $300
No refund, partial or full, will be issued to any day or resident camper
who completes participation in the Sunday activities.
Students will be housed in Nebraska Wesleyan dormitories or area motels if university housing is unavaiilable.
Daily
Activities
The camp will commence on Sunday afternoon, June 15, 2008 and will conclude
with a 3 p.m. concert on Friday, June 20, 2008. Students will be involved
in choral rehearsals, musicianship & enrichment activities, and recreational
activities each day. Music to be sung will be learned during the week of
camp. Teachers are not responsible for pre-teaching the selections. All
transportation and tickets to social events are included in the tuition
fee.

How
to Apply
Choral directors, teachers, and parents should accurately complete the
application and send with a $50 non-refundable deposit per singer (checks
payable to Nebraska Wesleyan Children's Choir Camp). Registrations will
be accepted until the limit is reached. Mail to:

Teachers
are not limited in the number of applicants they submit. Students and
teachers will be notified of acceptance upon receipt of their registration.
Final payment of $375 (resident campers) or $250 (day campers)
will be due June 2, 2008. After June 4, a late fee of $25 will be assessed.
Final payment made after the due date or on the day of registration must
be made by bank draft or cash. Personal checks for final payment will
not be accepted after the due date.
Conductor:
Elaine Quilichini
Elaine Quilichini is one of Canada's finest choral conductors, recognized
for her exceptional musicianship and acclaimed work with choral ensembles.
In demand as a clinician, lecturer, adjudicator and guest conductor, Ms.
Quilichini holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of
Saskatchewan, a Master of Music (Kodály) from Holy Names College
in Oakland, California, and Associate and Licentiate diplomas in Piano
Performance. In 1995, Ms. Quilichini founded the Calgary Girl's Choir,
one of Canada's premier award-winning choirs. This choir was invited to
perform at the American Choral Directors National Convention in 2005.
She has long maintained a goal of developing a choral program that inspires
young singers to the artistic challenge of choral music performance. In
May of 2003, Elaine made her conducting debut at Carnigie Hall in New
York City with a 180 voice mass choir and orchestra. She also conducted
an Honors Choir at the OAKE National Convention in March 2004. Elaine was
the conductor for the Nebraska Honor Choir in 1998. She has conducted
the Nebraska Children's Choir Camp since its inception in 1997. |
